Drew McMillen and family
Thank you for taking the time to visit my web site!

It is because of the interest of people like you, that Democracy and the School Board are able to work. I appreciate you taking the time to get to know what I am about. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at 612.963.1729 or send me an email.

My name is Drew McMillen, I'm 38 years old, born in Philadelphia, PA.and raised in Rancho Palos Verdes in Southern California. I have 3 sisters, two are older and one younger. My two older sisters went to parochial schools, but my younger sister and I were educated in the public schools.
I was involved in school sports, studying for classes, acting in school plays, and mentoring Junior High kids in math and history. I worked after school, weekends and summers for my share of the expenses. As a teenager, I had a businesses with my friends, washing windows and cars, mowing lawns, and landscaping.

I did earn a partial scholarship to attend the University of California in Riverside. There I learned how to balance work with classes, and I graduated early in 1985 with two degrees, one in Business administration and the second in Economics and then started my MBA in marketing, completing it in 1988.

I work at Chiquita Processed Foods selling and marketing canned vegetables to schools, hospitals, and restaurants. I have learned how to manage budgets up to $300 million, prepare for unexpected events, and develop dozens of employees. I'm best at being able to grasp a complex situation and break it down to its simplest parts.

I've lived and worked in LA, Milwaukee, Appleton, and San Francisco. Two years ago I decided, with my wife Mary (a St. Paul native) and our two children(Brock is 4 and Jenna is 2) to settle in Washington County and the city of Woodbury. The school system was a big part of our decision to live and raise our family here in Woodbury. Brock is currently attending pre-school at King of Kings Lutheran Church and will attend Kindergarten at Middleton Elementary next fall.

My platform for election to District 833 school board:
  • Performance-Students, teachers and parents should know what is expected and work towards achieving those goals
  • Personal Responsibility- This includes all participants from students, faculty and parents
  • Family Budget First- Voters should be aware that their family budget is just as important as District 833's budget
I will make sure every new dollar spent under my watch gets a measurable return. If there's waste, I'll work hard to find and eliminate it. If there's a need for more spending, I'll scrutinize it to be sure we are getting the best value for our tax dollars.

To protect the future of our children and your family budget-
